Interprofessional Experiential Learning Model

The College of Education and Health Professions is conducting a feasibility study to develop and execute the interprofessional experiential learning model in a school setting for students engaged in clinical and practicum experiences and provide faculty opportunities for integrated research across education and health fields.

View More Details

Degree programs in the College of Education and Health Professions require participation in experiential learning opportunities from our students. We have students completing their internships, practicums, or clinical placements throughout the region and the state. Although we may have students from different degree programs placed at the same site, we have not proactively coordinated multiple students from multiple degree programs participating in internships at the same site at the same time.

A school provides a perfect setting for the interprofessional education of our students. An ad hoc committee will be formed to examine the feasibility and steps required to execute this model. The committee will identify a school that can simultaneously house students from a wide range of programs across education and health. A school that already has an outpatient clinic on-site may be among the most suitable options. The committee will also explore possibilities for faculty to engage in research projects that will evaluate the program, its implementation and outcomes, and its impact on students and schools. The committee will also identify the requirements for MOU and the funding needed to establish and execute the program.

Sustain

Student Field Experience Funds

Student Field Experience Funds support students’ experiential learning anywhere in the state of Arkansas. Encouraging field experiences throughout Arkansas provides students with opportunities to engage in experiential learning, develop an understanding of education and health issues, and consider careers across the state. The funds are not meant to be used for an individual student but for groups or cohorts of students engaging in a field experience together.

View More Details

The Student Field Experience Funds will help offset costs related to meals, transportation, lodging, and other expenses (e.g., posters, registration, and supplies). Experiential learning opportunities could be embedded in a course, practicum, or internship, but they do not have to be part of the coursework.

Proposals for Student Field Experience Funds will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Proposals must be submitted at least one month in advance of the scheduled field experience or experiential learning opportunity. Requests for funding must be submitted by faculty or staff who are coordinating the experiential learning or field experience opportunities for the students.
